Butterfly

October 5, 2009

Same butterfly, different shots. My butterfly bush is growing next to a large evergreen. It might be a spruce or a fir, but not a pine. Kirk told me, but I forget. I wouldn’t have expected it to be a friendly landing spot for a butterfly, but this one seemed to like it.

kate, i love butterfly bush and the butterfly. you have captured nice shots of these. you know, this is my dream capture. A butterfly on a butterfly bush. Sadly, i have no buddleia in my garden as it is not available here and i could not succeed in growing it from seed due to extreme heat. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

You are lucky, as khabbab wrote, to have a butterfly and a butterfly bush. What a beautiful butterfly. I am going to grow purple top verbena next year to attract butterflies. They are wonderful to have in the garden.

Very nice portraits of your Red-spotted Purple unless it is a Diana… Lovely whatever her name.

Oh yes, that’s a grand shot. One of the first plants in my new gardens–was the butterfly bush. Can’t live without them.

What a beautiful butterfly. I can’t seem to take great photos of butterflies, so I just enjoy other’s photos.

    Kate,

Cool butterfly photos. This looks to be a Red-spotted Purple/ White Admiral. The further north you go they become White Admirals.
