Unexpected Beauty

yucca

I’m not quite sure why, but this image fascinates me. During our excessively rainy summer, we were away for two weeks. Our flight out was delayed by a storm that dropped nearly four inches of rain in one day. We returned to find one yucca stem in full bloom, but horizontal, lying straight across the new front walk. There were originally two yuccas, one on either side of the straight path, just before the steps to the front door. That was much too rigid and expected for my taste. When we finished the curved path, I moved the one on the left to the driveway end. Now, there is a yucca at each end of the curving garden along the walk. It pleases me, for now.

Aren’t Yuccas interesting? I like the seed pods too. The seed pods from some of the different kinds can look kind of wild.
