The Green of Winter in New England

January 7, 2010

David Perry shares amazing photos, full of whimsy and imagination, at A Photographer’s Garden Blog. In a recent post, he challenged readers to photograph red, green, or blue. If you read through the comments, there are some great interpretations of color to be found. Here, you’ll find the visions of green that called to me on a winter day in New England.

Looking up, into the boughs of an evergreen:

Is the crystalline structure of a snowflake anything like the spiky yucca leaves? Do you suppose the designer of Superman’s fortress had a garden of snow covered yucca for inspiration?

The sight of green in the snow covered vegetable garden is a joyful surprise.

I really like this, though I suspect in a few weeks we’re all gonna be very tired of snow…even those of us like you and I who get lots of it every winter.
