The Garden Fairy Chronicles, Croaky

June 17, 2010

The garden fairy has a new best friend.

His name is Croaky.

At times, I wondered if he’d rather just croak.

I helped her set up a small habitat for him, so that she could watch him for a while.

She wasn’t satisfied with just watching.

A few times, he played dead. My older daughter insists he wasn’t smart enough to do such a thing. Eventually, he did manage to make his escape. The garden fairy thought he was stuck between the rocks and was quite distressed. I’m not sure it was any comfort that he wasn’t stuck, but merely hiding. She’s very sad she doesn’t have Croaky to play with, but happy that he is home in the garden somewhere, hopefully getting nice and fat on those pesky grasshoppers. 🙂

The picture of Croaky on the leaf is fantastic! You did a great job of capturing his coloration/patterning.
